AUT Hosts Conference on Communicating with Gen Z in Collaboration with the Union of Parents Committees for Catholic Schools

The American University of Technology (AUT), in collaboration with the Union of Parents Committees for Catholic Schools in Keserwan and Jbeil, hosted a successful conference on communication with Gen Z on April 24 at AUT.

The conference was designed to discuss the best means of communication with Generation Z, in view of the technological gap that is growing between parents and their children, and to inform schools how this communication can affect academic performance. This conference also helped parents learn more about AUT and its academic environment as they consider higher education options for their children. It drew the participation of around 120 parents and 17 school officials. Among the two main speakers was Sister Romana, Principal of Rosaire Jbeil School, while the second speaker was Dr. Sabine Ballan Aoun, selected by the Union. In addition, 114 parents followed the event live on the Keserwan Online platform.

The conference featured two panels moderated by Dr. Walid Karam and Dean Christiane Sfeir, with the participation of parents and educators in an open and engaging exchange. During the reception, Ms. Caline Karam spoke to parents about the benefits of joining AUT and had the opportunity to interact directly with attendees, school officials, and educators.

The event also marked the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Union of Parents Committees, paving the way for future cooperation that includes workshops for parents and special admission conditions for their children.

This conference forms part of AUT’s broader outreach efforts, which have already connected the University with students through the Best Essay Competition and Leadership Workshop, and with schools through a series of Gen Z-focused workshops for both educators and parents. The initiative continues to grow, with several parent committees already requesting dates for their own school communities to attend presentations by Dr. Khoury.

The conference is now being planned for our North Campus, and AUT looks forward to sharing further updates on the upcoming dates.

Through these continued efforts, we aim to strengthen our connection with families and schools, expand our student body, and invite faculty members to contribute to this mission by sharing their expertise with parents across a range of fields.
