AUT Partners with UPV on Water Science and Research Initiatives

The American University of Technology (AUT) continues to expand its international academic footprint through a newly established collaboration with the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), one of Spain’s leading institutions in engineering and applied sciences.

During a recent visit to Valencia, AUT leadership met with the Academic Dean of the Faculty of Water Engineering and Science, as well as the Director of Research at UPV. In coordination with AUT Chair Dr. Anthony Ouba, both institutions agreed to initiate a flexible and progressive collaboration focused on the Water Resources Science program.

Key areas of collaboration include:

  • The delivery of selected AUT courses by UPV faculty, either online or in person depending on prevailing conditions
  • The development of joint research projects in water and wastewater management
  • Opportunities for AUT students to participate in intensive, short-term laboratory training at UPV’s advanced water research facilities
  • A forthcoming articulation pathway enabling AUT graduates to pursue master’s studies at UPV, with English-language graduate programs expected to launch in the coming academic year

With a student population of approximately 35,000 and multiple campuses across Spain, UPV brings significant academic and research capacity to this partnership – particularly in the critical field of water resource management.

The visit also served to reinforce AUT’s active role within the Association Internationale des Universités du Troisième Âge (AIUTA), where discussions were held regarding upcoming international initiatives and conferences. AUT remains committed to its contribution to lifelong learning through its University for the Third Age program, which offers free educational opportunities for senior citizens, including technology courses and interdisciplinary lectures spanning health, arts, history, and beyond.

This growing collaboration reflects AUT’s strategic priority to provide its students and faculty with access to high-quality international partnerships, fostering academic excellence, applied research, and global engagement.
