AUT Hosts Leadership and Democracy Workshop

IThe second and final session of the Leadership and Democracy Workshop, organized by the American University of Technology (AUT), took place on March 14 with the participation of 220 high school students from schools across Mount Lebanon, Akkar, and the North, alongside AUT students.

The session brought together students and policymakers in an open dialogue on leadership, democratic participation, and civic engagement. Students had the opportunity to interact with Members of Parliament Sami FatfatNada BoustanySimon Abi Ramia, and Salim Sayegh, who shared insights from their parliamentary experience and engaged in discussions with participants.

The program also featured George Darazi, who addressed the concept of leadership and the skills required to lead effectively, emphasizing the importance of responsibility, integrity, and vision. In addition, Michel Fallah provided an overview of Lebanon’s electoral law and invited students to participate in a simulation of the voting process, allowing them to gain practical insight into democratic procedures.

The initiative created a dynamic space for students to explore the principles of leadership and democracy while engaging directly with public figures and experts. The participating Members of Parliament commended AUT for organizing this initiative and for its commitment to empowering young people to better understand democratic processes and their role in shaping the future of their country.
