A delegation from AUT formed of the dean of Arts Dr Christiane Sfeir, the senior coordinator of External Relations Dr Liliane Azzi, English instructor Myrna Fattoush and Student Affairs coordinator Malake Aswad visited the ten schools in Jbeil and Keserwan districts from which students placed first to third in the best essay on tolerance competition held at AUT on November 15 for the International day for Tolerance.
The essay was offered in three languages: English, French and Arabic.
The delegation met with the school principals and the winners, and handed certificates and gift vouchers from Librarie Antoine of $250, $150 and $100 for the top three students in each language.
School principals expressed their gratitude for the initiative by AUT and their support for such initiatives bound to make students better aware of their social responsibilities and engagement. They also conveyed their hope that another competition be held around the topic of citizenship.
It is worth mentioning that AUT celebrates many international days in various ways: conferences, discussion panels, essays and artwork to get its own students as well as high school students engage in meaningful activities.
