AUT Actively Participates in Educational Event in North Lebanon

The town of Rachiine in the Zgharta District recently witnessed a significant educational event during the open school day organized by My Club for the schools of the region. The gathering drew notable official and educational figures, led by the sponsor of the event, MP Tony Frangieh, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Technology, along with a large number of sector leaders and more than 1,200 students.

Beyond the impressive turnout, the importance of the occasion lay in the depth of discussions addressing the future of education and work amid rapid technological transformations. The event served as a true platform to connect schools with the pressing questions of the future and to present a practical vision for the role of rural areas in the emerging digital economy.

Among the key highlights of the event was the strong presence of the American University of Technology (AUT), which featured a dedicated booth within the parallel exhibition. From the early hours, students gathered around the AUT stand, which quickly became one of the most attractive points of engagement thanks to its interactive approach in introducing the university’s modern academic programs – particularly those integrating artificial intelligence and advanced digital technologies across various faculties and disciplines.

The AUT booth was far more than a traditional display. It offered a vibrant space for dialogue between the university team and visiting students. Through hands-on demonstrations and explanatory sessions, students learned about curriculum developments designed to keep pace with digital transformation, as well as real project models that AUT students work on using intelligent learning systems and cutting-edge technologies.

The academic team provided students with access to practical examples, giving them a realistic vision of the future of higher education and the new job opportunities emerging in the tech-driven economy. Students showed clear enthusiasm for programs that combine scientific knowledge with applied experience, while participating educators emphasized that such university involvement strengthens the bridge between school and university, guiding young learners toward more informed and relevant academic choices.

Within this context, one of the event’s key interventions came from Dr. Pierre Khoury, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at AUT. In his speech, he presented a realistic reading of the unprecedented shifts reshaping the job market and the gradual decline of traditional career models. He stressed that the era of the “guaranteed job” is fading, and that professional security is no longer tied to stability, but to the ability to continuously learn and adapt. Dr. Khoury urged students to break free from the passive expectation of a pre-designed future and instead adopt a mindset of exploration, experimentation, and creativity-skills that define today’s economy.
