Following the signing of cooperation agreement between Michigan
State University and the American University of Technology on
1/2/2005 and on behalf of the Center of Urban Development and Policy
Studies at
Dr. Imad Salamey visited MSU campus and met with faculty members from
the Urban and Regional Planning Program. The visit discussed the various
means to strengthen MSU-
cooperation. The outcome was a sincere commitment by both sides to
help
implement a Master Program in Urban Planning and Policy Studies as well
as to establish a joint training program to develop the capacities for
Lebanese public and private leaders in urban development and policy
planning. Dr. Salamey also met with MSU’s library director and
discussed the possible ways to linkup ’s
students with MSU’s extensive library collection. MSU’s Urban and
Regional Planning Program Director Dr. Eric Strauss and Assistant
Director Dr. Zenia Kotval expressed interest to visit
campus and meet with President Hinain this summer to discuss and survey
program needs in Lebanon.

Dr. Salamey also visited
the University of Michigan – Dearborn campus which hosts
a large number of American-Lebanese students and met
with various faculty members. Kathryn Anderson-Levitt,
Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters has
maintained correspondence with
and has expressed great interest in establishing
cooperation with .
Dr. Fred Wayman, Director of the Public Policy Program
and Dr. Salamey discussed ways to establish cooperation
between both universities and particularly a joint
Master Program in Public Policy by both universities.
Dr. Wayman expressed his interest to visit
campus this summer to further examine this prospect.
