Reckless driving
kills far too many people on Lebanese roads.
’s
concern was to expose in an attractive way many aspects of safe
driving to its students and to the society in which we are living.
Over 200 students
gathered to attend Lebanese rally champion, Jean-Pierre Nasrallah’s
presentation on rally and safety driving in the
auditorium on November 4, 2004. This was the first presentation on
the topic to be given at a university in Lebanon.
Jean Pierre’s
presentation was rich in its content: Braking techniques, distance
to keep between two cars, respect of road
signs, holding the steering wheel, the importance of the seat belt
were exposed in an entertaining way.
When it came
to the difference between the rally driving and the daily
driving, AUT students
had the chance to see what Jean-Pierre was talking about.
AUT
brought on campus a rally car and a normal car. This helped the
students to compare the basic differences between the two cars.
A group A rally car costs about 12
times what a normal car of the same make does.
Seven
AUT
students from Halat and Tripoli campuses (Rayan Bou Khzam, Lea
Lahoud, Hani Alam El Din, Elie Khalil, Walid Merhi, Tarek
Kabbara, Hadi Haddad), who showed the highest awareness of safe
driving were selected to conduct rally test driving under
Nasrallah’s rally team supervision.
AUT
had special attendance for this presentation:
-
The vice
president of the Automobile Touring Club of Lebanon, Mr. Jack
Salha
-
The president
of the Lebanese Automobile Commission, Mr. Gaby Kreyker.
The
presentation was covered by over 10 media. |
