State University of New York Empire State College team of professors, lead by Dean of International Programs, Dr Ken Abrams, visited the AUT Fidar campus on October 18 and met with AUT President and department chairs and coordinators. The visit aimed at strengthening the ties that exist between both institutions on many levels. The issues of faculty exchange and common research were examined in detail during the visit. The team also had a tour of the facilities and expressed admiration for the state-of-the-art computer and communication labs. Students also had a chance to interact with ESC faculty and inquire about the exchange possibilities open to them. The team later visited the Byblos historic site.

A dinner grouping AUT officials was held in honor of the visiting team on October23.

AUT and SUNY Empire State College have signed an agreement of academic affiliation in October 2003 to offer AUT students and faculty many possibilities of cooperation.

has delegated 3 Student Council members, Mohammad Abboud, Nabih Abi Sarkis and Bashir Karam to attend the International Student Alliance Conference hosted by the American University in Cairo and held at the Sheraton Royal Gardens, Cairo, from October 25 to 31.

The conference groups student councils from American universities on the Mediterranean shore and in the Middle East and promotes the exchange of ideas and experiences. It also allows for contact and coordination among the different student councils to better define the roles of student unions in universities.
