The AUT Math Placement Exam for Science is composed of three parts
(Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes).
- Part I (10 questions 10 points = 100 points) covers basic mathematical
concepts for science majors.
- Part II (10 questions 10 points = 100 points) covers materials from
calculus I.
- Part III (10 questions 10 points = 100 points) covers materials from
calculus II.
Placement in Math courses is as follows:
- If a student fails part I, he\she will have to take the remedial
course College Algebra (MAT 100) with the condition that he\she would
pass the course with at least a “B” to be admitted in the
faculty of
Applied Sciences.
- If a student passes part I and fails part II, he\she
will have to take the remedial course Calculus I (MAT 101).
- If a student passes part II and fails part III, he\she
will have to take the remedial course Calculus II (MAT 102).
- If a student passes part III, he\she will be exempted
from remedial math courses and goes directly in Calculus III (MAT 203).
The passing grade on part I, II, or III is 60 points
(6/10 questions).
