Coordinator of the Nutrition department at AUT
Coming from Mc Gill University in Montreal, Canada, Dr Rammouz joined the AUT faculty in September 2011 as coordinator for the department of Nutrition under the Faculty of Applied Sciences and as assistant professor in the Faculty.
Dr Rammouz spent the period between November 2007 and August 2011 as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Analytical Chemistry-, «Diagnosis for the Alzheimer’s Disease -Drug Development» at the Research Institute of McGill University Health Centre.
From 2003 to-2006, he worked on completing his PhD in Analytical Chemistry-“Chemistry – Biology – Health”: «Study of the Lipidic Membrane Composition of Sinorhizobium meliloti 1021 and Quantitation of Sphingosine 1-Phosphate by Capillary Electrophoresis Coupled to the Laser Induced Fluorescence Detection» and before that he earned a Masters degree in Molecular and Supramolecular Chemistry from Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse-France. (Mention: Assez bien; Position: 4/8). His thesis was: «Enantioselective synthesis and deprotonation of borane phosphine». Laboratory of ''Hétérochimie Fondamentale et Appliquée'' HFA (G. Bertran)
Dr Rammouz has been busy working for four years on various projects related to Alzheimer’s disease. His main project consisted in the determination and characterization of an oxidative stress – dependent dehydroepiandrosterone synthesis pathway as a possible diagnostic for Alzheimer’s disease. This project led to an international potential publication of a clinical study he conducted on more than 52 patients. He is now extending this clinical experiment on a study realized on 800 patients, in the aim of passing to the next industrial step.
Since 2008 Dr Rammouz has been giving lectures and seminars at McGill University, The Research Institute of McGill University Health Center, Department of Medicine, Endocrinology division. He has supervised graduate and undergraduate students in research training and study programs (Bachelor, Master, PhD). Between November 2005 and November 2006 he was a Temporary Teacher and Researcher in Analytical Chemistry, Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse III-France.
Dr Rammouz has authored and co-authored over 30 published papers in the areas of biochemistry and nutrition in France and Canada and participated in many specialized conferences in several countries.
Now back in Lebanon, he joined AUT with a mission to develop the Continuing Education Division at the University
In his free time Dr Rammouz, married and father of a girl, enjoys swimming, football, basketball, volleyball, hiking, and pool table
