PROGRAM CURRICULUM & LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Goals of the Course: The goal of Babson's Introduction to Entrepreneurship is for you to gain a skill set and an approach that can be applied in order to launch new ventures and other entrepreneurial endeavors. The program strongly encourages practice over an emphasis on theory.
The Curriculum: The program curriculum is designed to take you through the critical components of the entrepreneurial process. Descriptions for each week are outlined below.
ENTREPRENEURIAL THOUGHT & ACTION® (ET&A®) & ENTREPRENEURIAL FIT:
Week 1 sets the groundwork for the entire program by examining how entrepreneurs of all kinds think and act while developing and executing new opportunities. Entrepreneurial Thought and Action (ET&A) is Babson's action-based framework that will help you get started on your ideas sooner rather than
later. Part of the ET&A methodology is understanding who you are and how you "fit" with the idea you want to move forward. Why should you be the person to act on the opportunity that you identify?

DESIGN THINKING & IDEA GENERATION
This session introduces Design Thinking as an approach to entrepreneurial action and innovation. Design Thinking is a resource for opportunity identification, product and service development and venture strategy formulation. In this module you will analyze different video cases which suggest opportunities and challenges associated with Design Thinking. Moreover, you will grapple with the difficulties of truly empathizing with a target market and thus complexities in creating value for customers and users.

OPPORTUNITY ASSESSMENT & MARKET TESTING
Week 3 introduces Opportunity Assessment, the difference between venture success and failure is a function of whether your idea is truly an opportunity. You will spend some time studying the viability of your idea with an opportunity checklist. One of the most overlooked keys to entrepreneurial success is distribution. Reaching the customer can be very difficult, even for the most experienced entrepreneur. Answering the question, "How do you reach the customer?" will be critical for goal achievement.

THE ART OF THE PITCH
Entrepreneurs need to be able to convey their ideas succinctly and persuasively to gain support, whether looking for business partners, advisors, funding, or customers. Your success in pitching a business idea, whether as a start-up or within a larger organization, will depend on several key factors. The validity of your business idea and how well it matches a customer need is essential. In addition, how you deliver your pitch and your personal communication skills will also influence whether you achieve your goals. People that you meet are not only assessing your ideas but also your own personal leadership capability and level of engagement.
