Joint Projects with Byblos Municipality

 

The Byblos municipality has welcomed the idea of having AUT Graphic Design students paint murals in several locations in the town. The purpose is to add beauty to the environment and to fulfill class projects.

Lutz Presser, chair of Arts will supervise the work that should start after the Easter break. Locations include the under-bridge passage in the middle of town, a 5-floor building façade to be painted in trompe-l’oeil and  a wall around a public garden on Main street.

Graphic Design students have started on mural inside the Agora building and should complete the work by early May.

 

Open House in Tripoli April 11, 2006

 

AUT Tripoli campus received the visit of over 150 school students from Tripoli Evangelical School and American Universal College that wanted to learn more about AUT. Students interacted with AUT staff and attended presentations by Dr Farhat, campus director, Dr Lutz Presser, chair of Arts, Dr Walid Saba, chair of Applied Sciences and Reem Taleb of Business. Demonstrations and AUT students projects were also on the menu for the visitors that spent over 3 hours in the company of their counselors.
AUT organizes such visits more than 7 times every year to help school students know more about what they intend to study. The Halat main campus will host school students on May 5 and May 12.

 

AUT Soccer Team Heading to Dubai

 

Dubai is the destination of the AUT Tripoli soccer team that has achieved great results this year. The team will join a 5-day training camp and play against local and other Arab teams.

The departure is set for April 18 and the team will be accompanied by Dany Hreiki, the AUT soccer coach.

 
 
 

 

Poetry Night at AUT

 

Fans of poetry gathered Friday April 7 at AUT to enjoy an hour of poems and music. Nadine Al Assaad, Victoria Salamouni and Khalil Semaan recited their favorite creations to the suave music of oud played by Father Jean Jabbour.

Al Assaad recited poems from her latest book, Perfume of a Man and focused on love and senses.

Salamouni tackled diverse issues in her poems: motherhood, love and pride whereas Semaan recited his works in dialectical Arabic.

Guests came at the invitation of both AUT and the  Byblos Cultural Council which helped organize the event.
