The
winners of the Autofocus newspaper's Journalism
Competition received their awards in a ceremony May
23rd in the Crystal Room. The winners of
first, second and third place each received a
partial scholarship to attend AUT. In the
competition, secondary-school students from
throughout Lebanon were invited by Autofocus to
submit journalism articles.
Aside
from the top three places, six other high-school
students received honorable mentions for their
articles. The top three articles were published in
the April issue of Autofocus. Philip Khoury won
first place, and he came to the ceremony with his
parents and three siblings. Raya Harb won second
place, and Joy Jeha won third place.
At
the ceremony, each student received a certificate
documenting her or his achievement; the top three
also had letters waiting for them to announce their
scholarships. After the ceremony, everyone was
invited for refreshments as part of the opening of
the Tunnel Vision art exhibit in the Agora tunnel.
