ARA 201 Arabic Communications Skills (3
credits) In this course, we study all there
is to know in the Arabic Language that can
be useful for all business students such as
vocabulary, grammar, dictation, commonly
made mistakes, writing letters, speeches,
reports and other useful tips in a simple
and clear method.
CST 201 Western Civilization (3 credits) The
course offers a global perspective on the
past by introducing students to the study of
societies and cultures from CE 500 until CE
1600. Students examine the political,
social, economic and cultural aspects of the
Western civilizations and survey the
evolution of the Western tradition. Topics
include Byzantium Empire, Islam, foundation
of Christian society in Western Europe,
Western Europe during the High Middle Age
and Renaissance. Prereq.: ENG 203
GER 201 Elementary German (3 credits) This
course is a first guidance into the German
language. It involves grammar,
pronunciation, conversation, reading,
listening and writing. It teaches basic
vocabulary items (approximately 500 words),
grammatical rules, and phonology.
HLT 210 Health &
Wellness (3 credits) This course
covers diversified concepts including stress
management, human sexuality, nutrition and
exercise, disease prevention, alternative
medicine, drug use and abuse, and healthy
environment. It is a course with daily
application for the student in her/his life.
It helps her/him build up a holistic
analysis of health and its impact on the
self and its environment. Coreq.: ENG 203
HUM 318 Human Rights & Business (3
credits) The course is designed to
provide students the opportunity to learn
about the growing importance of human rights
and their impact in the world today.
Students examine a variety of issues related
to human rights and broader contemporary
trends related to human rights and business.
The course helps students to understand
interrelationship between human rights -
political - social and business
developments. Students also gain an
understanding of the existing international
human rights standards; learn ways in which
business and human rights intersect.
HUM 360 Research Methodology for SOC (3
credits) Students will develop
understandings of qualitative and
quantitative approaches to research in
social studies. They will also acquire the
knowledge and skills necessary to interpret
and produce quality research: from survey
methods to interview techniques and
questionnaire design.
PED 201 Basket Ball (1 credit) This
one hour credit course is designed to teach
knowledge of the sport, leadership, loyalty,
sportsmanship, and team play. The emphasis
will be on learning both the tactical and
technical aspects of the game of basketball.
The purpose of this course is to provide
students with the environment and
opportunity to learn various offensive and
defensive strategies and to teach the basic
rules and regulations.
PED 203 Physical Fitness (1 credit)
This course is an activity class, which
emphasizes cardiovascular development
through continuous aerobic activity and
strength training development for overall
fitness. Explain the concepts of
cardiovascular fitness. Improve
cardiovascular fitness and muscular
development through the manipulation of
volume and intensity. Demonstrate as
understanding of the need for physical
fitness throughout life.
PED 208 Yoga (1 credit) The course
is a personal development skill, and
self-stress management using different
techniques: muscular relaxation, breathing
techniques, yoga stretching, meditation, Tai
chi and Qi kong exercising, massage therapy
…. These techniques are the best solutions
to help any person enhance their skills by
at least a minimum of 40% and especially for
future graduates living a busy life eager to
find fast results helping them deal with
stress.
POL 201 Introduction to Political Science
(3 credits) This course is a general
survey in the field of political science.
Students are not required to have any
background in the discipline and in fact,
the course is designed to introduce some
basics concepts and approaches to political
science. This course provides the foundation
for future studies in the field and aims to
introduce students to the basics concepts in
the study of politics and furthermore to
show the students why it is important to get
involved in the political process of the
government, especially in a highly
politicized nation-state as Lebanon.
Students should be able to critically
analyze the political process, and be able
to evaluate various political Ideologies,
forms of government, systems and regimes.
The nation – state will be the main module
of study. Some lights will be shed on the
Non State Actors – NSA- violent as well as
non violent.
